The Winged Elves are a race that were created from the blood of Pan Gu. They were intended to symbolize beauty, grace and purity. They are a kind race, willing to help in any time of need. Many live peaceful lives, surrounded by the forests and lakes to the southwest of Perfect World. The three Winged Elf classes are Archer, Cleric, and Edgerunner. The starting town for the Winged Elves is City of the Plume. The Winged Elves are the only race with the ability to fly from birth.
The Winged Elves date back to the Golden Age, when gods and Humans lived together in harmony. When the gods first ascended to the Sacred World, the Humans looked upon them in awe and so they bestowed their favors upon mankind and feasted joyously together. After any years of kinship and prosperity, a new generation of half-god, half-Human offsprings were born. The gods gave these children wings so as to enjoy the gift of flight.
The children born to Human mothers were excellent Archers with black wings, while those born to godly mothers were masters of magic with white wings. As the Golden Age came to an end and the alliance between gods and Humans collapsed, these winged children began calling themselves Elves and took to living lives of seclusion and self-preservation. When the Sea of Blood Disaster struck, their wings allowed them to survive with minimal loss of life.
Winged Elves look very similar to humans due to them being half-human and half-god. They bear a pair of plumes on their head. The type of plumes differ between the archer, the cleric, and the edgerunner. The in-game model at the character creation screen (armor on), and several of the game's artwork, depict them with permanent wings protruding from their back, however the in-game models do not have wings permanently but instead are only shown while the character is flying.
Edgerunners are a male-only class that have a more detailed appearance compared to their archer and cleric counterparts. They also have black head plumes instead of white ones. The edgerunner is unique in that they can be customized to have a detailed model or a normal model. The detailed model cannot currently be customized. The normal model gives the edgerunner an appearance similar to a Nightshade in their human form and also allows them to be customized.
City of the Plume
The main city of Winged Elves. City of the Plume, or "Plume" for short, lies in the southern area of Perfect World. A special landmark in Plume is the giant tree that the city is built under, on, and around. Other places of interest are Bamboo Village, southeast of Plume, Dreaming Stronghold, southwest of Plume, and Village of Brutes, west of Plume and south of the Vibrant Cliffs. Cave of the Vicious, the dungeon for the Winged Elves Call to Duty quest, is west of Plume.
Archers specialize in long range attacks. Archers can use bows, crossbows, and slingshots, and are damage dealers. Archers are tied for the fastest class in the game, meaning that if all other classes were to run in a footrace the archer would tie for first. The Archers are also meant to be the guardians of the Winged Elf race. The Archers ranged attacks are reduced when a mob (or player, in the case of PvP) comes too close, unless the Archer uses skills that inflict metal damage.
It is said that if a human gives birth to a winged elf, they will become an excellent archer and bear black wings (though this is not apparent in any art or in-game model).
The Clerics are the main healing class of the game, and therefore are the most sought out in squads. Clerics also have buffs that can increase your physical and magical defense, make your attacks stronger, and make your HP and MP regenerate faster. Clerics can fly with their starting wings infinitely, as opposed to Archers, who when they fly slowly use mana, therefore unable to fly for longer unless using mana potions or charms. Clerics use magic weapons such as wands, magic swords, patakas, and glaives.
It is said that if a goddess gives birth to a winged elf, they will become a cleric and bear white wings.
