Psychics have two main builds like other arcane classes - a pure magic and a vitality build. Players looking for a unique play style can choose other builds such as light armor or heavy armor builds, however these are not effective when participating in high level content or in PvP.

Pure Magic Build[ | ]

A pure magic build is the most common build for a psychic. While it lacks in survivability it makes up for it with high magic attack which psychics can benefit from in their lower levels. In higher levels equipment can easily make up for lost physical defense and health along with various defensive skills such as Psychic Will and White Voodoo.

Pros:

  • Higher magic attack
  • Higher magic defense

Cons:

  • Easier to steal aggro from the tank especially at lower levels
  • Can be dangerous if you steal aggro often
  • Lower physical defense and health which must be made up for using equipment and skills

Allocation[ | ]

The main allocation for a pure magic build is 1 strength and 9 magic per 2 levels. This can vary depending on what type of equipment you have and if it adds extra strength.

Strength (Str):

1 strength per 2 levels, enough to wear endgame equipment. Rank 9 armor requires 55 strength to equip, and will be the highest amount of strength that most psychics will need for their build. If you are going for Twilight Warsoul Gear then you will need 57 strength instead. If you plan to wear a ★★★Crown of Madness or equivalent you will need 75 strength instead and you may need to adjust your point allocation to allow more strength, or use other equipment such as a tome or War Avatar Cards to gain the extra strength.

Dexterity (Dex):

Do not add any dexterity points.

Vitality (Vit):

Vitality is not recommended for this type of build as it is a pure magic build.

Magic (Mag):

9 magic per 2 levels. Once you have the required strength to wear your desired endgame equipment, all leftover stat points should go into magic.

Vitality Build[ | ]

A vitality build is a less common build for psychics though it is still popular. It can be especially effective in lower levels to control your damage and prevent you from taking aggro, or help you to survive if you do still steal aggro. At higher levels it becomes less effective as endgame equipment will greatly affect your survival rates especially in PvP, though some psychics may still opt to keep some vitality in their stat build or choose to use vitality shards in their equipment instead to gain more than a stat build could allow.

Pros:

  • Higher health and slightly more physical defense
  • Less likely to steal aggro especially in lower levels

Cons:

  • Less magic attack
  • Less effective at higher levels especially with endgame equipment

Allocation[ | ]

Stat allocation for this build is similar to the pure magic build except you will add less magic and more vitality. The amount of vitality you add to the build can be flexible depending on how much health you want to have. One example of point allocation for a vitality build is 1 strength, 1-2 vitality, and 7-8 magic per 2 levels.

7-8 magic per 2 levels, though this may vary depending on how much vitality you decide to add to your build. You will need at least enough magic to equip your armor and weapons. A Rank 9 weapon requires 308 magic to wear, while Rank 9 armor requires 155 magic to wear.

Light Armor Build[ | ]

A light armor build is a very uncommon build that can be considered outdated. This build is for psychics looking for a unique play style. It focuses on using light armor equipment instead of arcane armor. This build is not seen in higher levels as endgame equipment is generally class-restricted and forces psychics to wear arcane armor instead. With a light armor build, a psychic's endgame armor will be Nirvana 3rd cast AKA g16 light armor.

Pros:

  • Unique play style
  • More physical defense and health if equipment is refined
  • Higher critical hit rate and evasion

Cons:

  • Much less magic attack than other builds
  • Much less magic defense than other builds
  • Outdated build that is not used in higher levels or in PvP
  • Most endgame gear is arcane armor for psychics; light armor psychics are limited to Nirvana 3rd cast AKA g16 light armor.

The main allocation for a dexterity build is 1 strength, 1 dexterity, and 3 magic per level. This can vary if you are wearing equipment that adds extra dexterity and strength, such as a tome or War Avatar Cards.

A Nirvana 3rd cast AKA g16 soulsphere requires 304 magic to wear, while a Rank 9 soulsphere requires 308 magic to wear. You may require stat-boosting equipment to help reach magic requirements to wear up-to-date weapons as you level up.
