Assassins are skillful melee combatants and daggers are their weapons of choice. In Critical Hit form, they can deal more damage than other classes in most circumstances. With their vital ability to stealth in addition to their damage, assassins are a terrifying addition to any battlefield. Assassins specialize in close range high damage melee attacks and have great evasion. Having lower HP than other close range fighters, they can easily succumb to heavy damage if not carefully controlling their damage dealing when working with others to bring down monsters. An assassin is one of the best classes for one-on-one PvP in the game.
Pros:
- High critical hit chance
- Tied with archers for running speed
- Very quick stealth skills
- Only class with indefinitely long stealth skills
- Fast attacks
- Liked in most squads
- One of the best in 1v1 PvP
- High DPS and spike
- Good chi gaining abilities
- Damage dodging and status dodging defensive skills
- Lots of controlling and approaching skills
Cons:
- Dies easily at lower levels due to low HP and defense
- Can be boring to play as they mostly just use auto attack
- Few AoE skills
- Short range compared to others
- Not as strong at mass PvP (TW)

Equipment[]
Weapons[]
Assassins primarily use daggers, as they are required to cast most skills. The type of dagger used depends on the assassin's equipment build and playing style:
- APS (Attacks Per Second) builds focus on attack speed and thus may have a preference for daggers with -interval stats.
- DPH (Damage Per Hit) build Assassins may prefer daggers that have
- Attack levels
- Sacrificial Strike or God of Frenzy effect on their weapon, such as Rank 9 daggers.

Attack Speed Chart: Slower-Slow-Medium-Fast-Faster
Weapon Type | Minimum Damage | Maximum Damage | Attack Speed | Range |

Dagger | Low | High | Medium - Faster | Short |
Armor[]
Light armor is ideal for assassins due to their high dexterity. Heavy armor is not a viable option due to their high strength requirement which does not benefit an assassin's damage. The type of light armor an assassin may use depends on their intended play style:
- APS build Assassins:
- May not necessarily choose gear with the highest defenses, but rather gear that has -interval stats on it. This may include using:
- Ornaments that do not benefit an assassin's defense such as level 99 gold Twilight Temple evasion necklaces and belts
- Rank 8 Recast plate and boots as they have higher defenses than typical attack speed gear and offer a 1300 HP bonus, however it is more difficult to acquire the -interval stat as it requires luck.
- May not necessarily choose gear with the highest defenses, but rather gear that has -interval stats on it. This may include using:
- DPH build Assassins:
- Will typically aim for Rank 9 gear, especially Rank 9 Third Cast gear, as it provides:
- Higher defenses but also more attack levels and dexterity
- This type of build can exceed an attack speed build by far, but is much more costly to acquire and upgrade in order to be viable.
- Will typically aim for Rank 9 gear, especially Rank 9 Third Cast gear, as it provides:
Assassins in PvP[]
Assassins are excellent in one-on-one PvP because of the critical hit skills they have: they have very good chances of a critical hit; they also have proficient defense. Being surrounded is the big weakness in Assassins, thus they like killing people one by one, and in part due to their lack of AoE skills, it's recommended to attack in a place that has one or two PVPers that are close to the same level as them.
Assassins in PvE[]
At low levels assassins often have some difficulty due to having to fight at a melee range and being a light armor user, therefore having weaker defenses than other typical melee classes who use heavy armor. Prior to level 89, assassins rely heavily on defensive buffs, and frequently have to use various methods to recover HP (meditation, potions, and charms) when doing PvE quests solo. Low level assassins have to be especially careful to avoid aggroing multiple attackers, so using Zeal genie skill Earthflame to lure helps versus groups of mobs. Having someone else along to either tank or heal also helps immensely.
Starting at level 89, however, with the crit rate from the high Dex at that level (helped by the Wolf Emblem skill), the ability to triple spark, plus the HP recovery from the sage or demon Bloodpaint skill, especially with the addition of high APS (Attacks Per Second) gear, assassins really begin to shine. With high-quality, highly refined, and properly sharded gear, in addition to their skills that usually allow them to stealth out of danger, assassins become PvE powerhouses in both solo and squad situations.
Assassins in Territory Wars[]
Assassins work very easily in Territory Wars if they are unnoticed; they can hide behind allies and strike at enemies that are busy killing others. Many assassins will heavily utilize their stealth skill, including their Ultimate Skill, to make quick work of difficult enemies before disappearing again. They may also be tasked with taking out enemy support such as clerics or mystics to prevent them from being able to heal or resurrect others, and have an easier time doing so because of their stealth. It is important for assassins to have a higher level in order to have higher Stealth Level, as enemies can use Detection Potions to easily see stealthed players and easily thwart an assassin's plans; they should additionally be careful to watch for continuous channel AoEs coming from classes such as Seeker, Archer, and Stormbringer. At level 105, most other players should not be able to see them in stealth.
